Hunting in Montana 2009

Steve, my good friend from the shipyard, invited me to go on my first hunting trip to
Montana. We stayed with his grandparents in Great Falls, Montana
(Awesome people....they adopted me).
I was introduced to REAL people that hunt, trap, and live in a still wild land.
I was told by someone else in the Yard, that I would fall in love with Montana....I did!
The ridge in the foreground is where we ended our stalk of three Does (Mule Deer). The Doe was 250 yds. away in that dark area.
Steve and I got in the prone position, and before we could decide who was
shooting, I shot and dropped this Doe
(who was being followed by a Buck...
with love in his heart)
Steve went down to chase off the Buck...he wouldn't leave. After Steve threw a rock, shot in the ground, and finally approached the Buck did he leave.
I forgot to mention the stare down beteween Steve and the Buck....the whole time I had the Buck in my sights,
one wrong move towards my buddy, and bam.

What ever you shoot you got to haul out!

Finally, after hunting for four day we got our first Deer.
I was thinking after shooting at alot of running deer, I would shoot at the end of the leading Deer, kicking dirt up into eyes of the following deer, blinding the second deer in the line.
That didn't work either, plain old stalking your prey works.
Just ask the lions of the Sahara. Steve later that Day got his deer.
Two happy guys went home that day.
(the nice cut on the nose is from my scope when I fired)

Oh yeah, the prize!
I learned how to hunt, gut, cut and pack deer.
It took from 7a.m. to 3p.m. to cut up our deer.

Steve and his smiling friend.
One of the things we learned was removing brains of Atelopes, Deer, and Buffalo.
I'm not sick, they are used to tan hides.
Grandpa traps and tans hides.
Grandpa got a Fox the day before we left.

This speaks for itself.
like a coconut

Yep, it's Awesome.

This Butte is right behind Steve's Grandpa's house.
What a great experience, I needed to learn how to hunt
before I could ever share hunting with my boys.
Thank you Lord for this memoriable trip.

First Morning....

First Morning, sleep was set to Seattle time, wake up 4:00 a.m. So Owen, Shorty and I went to watch the sunrise.....too cloudy. But we had Kailua beach to ourselves.
Sunday brunch Ahi Poke (raw tuna w/wasabi and onions), Edame(soy beans),
canary melon, and Chips w/pineapple salsa.
That is after the morning swim.
Nancy and the kids got a little too hot, so I took them to the Pali lookout....windy and cool.
I just suggest Shave Ice anytime you are hot, it taste better than eating leaves and rocks.

Just Working...no site seeing. Oh, and fishing!

Just working 12's since I got back from Japan. It's good to

have a good steady....set....go job.

Owen waiting for the event to start. Owen and Olivia got

new fishing poles, guess which one is Olivia's.

This is our secret spot for fishing.

It was a beautiful day. This is why people from Washington appreciate

sunny day more than everyone else.No Rain.

Shorty catching the only family fish. Owen had a bite, pole bent over, and it was gone.

This is Josh he was fishing next to us. He won his group....and had the biggest fish

of the Day. 1.91 lbs.

I also have been building this "playhouse". Check out my wife's blog for info.http://http://www.kauahifamilyinhawaii.blogspot.com/

Are you Baptised...I can help!

It was easy to keep my word.

Shorty wanted me to take her to Famous Dave's for her Birthday.
I was willing to bring this little girl's dream come true.
The kids know the deal...giant Root beer floats.
Five different Bar-B-Que sauces.(Devil's spit is the Best)

This is what Shorty wanted, trash can lid of slow cooked flesh.
Shorty's favorite is the corn and Ribs. I'm a little easier, I like it all.

Yup, hurry up with the picture, it's time to do some work.

Better than the family Dog? That's some big words, Dave.

The votes are all in: Deeeeeelicious!
